The practical bits
How it works.
Payment
By bank transfer, with details on your written agreement. You are never charged for the introductory call.
Cancellation
48 hours' notice for a cancelled or rearranged session, otherwise the full fee applies. This protects a slot that is held for you each week.
Fee reviews
Fees are reviewed once a year and any change is given in writing with at least a month's notice, in line with BACP's requirement for transparency about fees.
Insurance
I work with Vitality Health and Healix Health Services. If you hope to claim, check with your insurer first.
Context
More than half of the listings on BACP's directory advertise £45 to £80 a session; the London average is around £80 My fees sit within that range.
Questions people ask first
Before you book.
Almost everything. What you share stays between us, within the BACP Ethical Framework. The limits, which I explain before we begin, are the ones every therapist has: I discuss my work anonymously in supervision, I would act if someone's safety were at serious risk and there are rare legal duties to disclose.4 There are no surprises.
Fifteen minutes to talk about what has brought you to therapy and to ask me anything. At the end you decide whether to book a first session. Nothing you say commits you to anything. There is a full guide to what to expect in your first session.
Weekly sessions at a regular time. Length of therapy is open-ended and reviewed together; some people come for a few months, others for longer. You are never committed to more than one session at a time.
Brief notes, stored securely and separately from anything that identifies you, as BACP recommends. You can ask to see them. Details are in my privacy policy.
For scheduling, yes and I reply within one working day. I am not an emergency service and do not monitor messages outside working hours. If you need urgent help, the numbers are on the contact page.
No. I work one-to-one with adults and young people, including on relationship difficulties. If couples work is what you need, I will happily point you towards it.
Yes. I work in English, Hindi and Punjabi.
Less than the names suggest. I offer both and we move between them. Read the full guide to counselling vs psychotherapy.
